TINAHELY COUNTY WICKLOW TRAIL WALKING FESTIVAL

29th April - 1st May 2011

Tinahely Walkers are hosting their 2nd Walking Festival which will take place on the May Bank Holiday weekend of April 29th - 1st May 2011.

The now annual festival takes place after last years great success which followes the new Failte Ireland Approved looped walks totalling 31km.

There will be a programme of events for the weekend to include "The Tinahely Sheep Flock".

2011 Tinahely Trailwalking Festival: SCHEDULE OF WALKS

SATURDAY 30th APRIL 2011

A WALK: CROGHAN MOUNTAIN
Suitable for: Experienced walkers
Registration: Tinahely Community Hall
Start Point: Tinahely Community Hall (Bus)
Distance: 16km; Ascent: 606m; Walking Time: 4-5 hours
Registration: 9.30am; Admission: € 15 (including €5 voucher)

B WALK: BALLYCUMBER LOOP
Suitable for: Experienced walkers
Registration: Tinahely Community Hall
Start Point: Tinahely Community Hall
Distance: 14km; Ascent: 400m; Walking Time: 4-5 hours
Registration: 10.00am; Admission: € 15 (including €5 voucher)

C WALK: MANGANS LOOP
Suitable for: Regular walkers
Registration: Tinahely Community Hall
Start Point: Tinahely Community Hall
Distance: 9km; Ascent: 300m; Walking Time: 2.5-3 hours
Registration: 10.30am; Admission: € 15 (including €5 voucher)

SUNDAY 1st MAY 2011

A WALK: KYLE LOOP
Suitable for: Experienced walkers
Registration: Tinahely Community Hall
Distance: 20km; Ascent: 500m; Walking Time: 4-5 hours
Registration: 10.30am; Admission: € 15 (including €5 voucher)

FAMILY WALK: Treasure Trail on New Railway Walk
Suitable for: All walkers (including children)
Description: Enjoy a FREE fun Treasure Trail in this safe and tranquil environment. The walk will commence (and finish) in the Railway Walk Car Park and continue along the new route of the Railway Walk. Be prepared for surprises along the way. The winners will have pride of place in the Parade which will take place afterwards.
Start Point: Railway Walk Car Park
Assembly: 2pm; Distance: 8km (or 6km); Walking Time: 2 hours (approximately). Admission: FREE

MONDAY 2nd May 2011

C WALK: Tomnafinnoge Wood
25th Anniversary Walk
Suitable for: Regular walkers
Start Point: Railway Walk Car Park
Distance: 12km; Ascent: 100m; Walking Time: 3-4 hours
Admission: FREE

 

 

1. Entry fee for A, B and C walks €15—payable at registration.
2. Fee includes €5 voucher which will be issued on return from walks.
3. Family Walk (Treasure Trail in Railway & Tomnafinnoge) free of charge.
4. Wear comfortable walking boots.
5. No dogs allowed.
6. Bring raingear, snacks and drinks.
7. Leave No Trace.
8. Stay with Walking Guides on A, B and C walks.
9. Take care of yourself, you are walking at your own risk.
