Winter Talk Series : Camino De La Plata
Winter Talks Series
John Cruise : Camino De La Plata
Saving one of the most popular talks 'till last - it was the incredibly knowledgeable John Cruise who would present the last of this season's Winter Talks Series as hosted by the WAI.
John certainly graced us all as we sat mesmerized as he gave with both banter and fact - invaluable information on the joys and tribulations of the Camino Via De La Plata.
Taking us gently along this unspoilt one-thousand kilometre route, we could all taste the early morning dew and feel the afternoon sun as John expertly re-lived his journeys with us.
Indeed John's absolutely fantastic photographs portrayed and lent themselves beautifully to what was a memorable evening that would round off the WAI Winter Talks Series . . . .

WAI / MV Gala Evening 2013
Walkers Association of Ireland / MountainViews Gala Evening 2013
Well wow, what an evening was had by one and all!
No surprises that a capacity crowd were treated to a joyous and forever memorable night of all things both boggy and Cumulus . . . .
Gracing the pedestal first was the incredibly humorous Peter Walker who informed us as to how even having a surname as his would be no help in the quest to conquer Mammoth Peat Hags of the gargantuan nature which lurk all too sneak-ily within the Slieve Blooms!!!
The ever learned Simon Stewart ran through the new and improved MV website which truly is an incredible resource, the likes of which is unparalleled to anything else the world wide web has to offer!
Following on - the beautifully put together new MV publication "A Guide to Ireland's Mountain Summits" was proudly launched by Wicklore from MountainViews . . . and if this excellent book doesn't encourage even more bog-trotters, be they "Baggers" or "Picnic-ers", well then I've promised not to talk for a whole five minutes . . . . . . . .

ANNUAL PUB QUIZ WEDNESDAY 23rd JANUARY 2013
So So the next time you find yourself playing a game of tennis atop Loch Inagh in the Cooley Mountains, facing North at a bearing of 180 degrees, using a romer scale to ascertain why the Stratus Clouds above are attracted to Magnetic North . . . .
You will know only too well what to do when attacked by an army of frogs each armed with their own personal Sjambok . . . . . Confused ???
