Winter Meets
Submitted by hilladmin on Sat, 21/02/2009 - 12:36.This group organises winter meets for walkers and hillwalkers from 2008. The initial season starting in late 2008 included a talk on organising holidays in Greece and Slovenia and was followed by a hillwalking themed Pub Quiz in Jan 2008. Further talks such as one on Munro bagging and another on a walk in Spain are planned.
First Winter Meet: Holidays in Tatras and Crete.
Submitted by hilladmin on Fri, 24/10/2008 - 20:44.The WAI's first winter meet was held in Dublin south central on Thurs 23rd Oct 2008, attended by around 40 people from half a dozen clubs. The Ramblers were organising and Louis O'Donoghue from that club spoke for a while on the practical difficulties of organising holidays in general and the Tatras/ Crete in particular.
A number of people some in clubs, some not, mentioned their experiences and in some cases said they would be happy to organise a future talk.
The occasion allows walkers from different clubs to meet and discuss common interests - the first meet of many we hope.
Winter Meet: Holidays in Tatras & SW Crete
Submitted by hilladmin on Mon, 13/10/2008 - 17:32.
Hosted by the Irish Ramblers Club this meeting will be the first organised by WAI to exchange holiday information. Come along to find out what others are doing and where and how. Ask questions, suggest refinements. Everyone welcome.

Walkers Association AGM & Launch of Evening Meets.
Submitted by hilladmin on Tue, 23/09/2008 - 21:06.After the launch in April last year this was the first public meeting of the WAI.
From the Modern Navigation course (next course Oct 4th - but possibly sold out) to our support for Challenge Walks the WAI has made modest but continuous progress.
Walkers Association AGM Sept 2008A major innovation launched at this meeting was the Winter Meets which will feature holiday information exchange. The first of these is the report of holidays in the Tatras and West Crete (see http://www.walkersassociation.ie/node/290)
