BigFoot 2010

The "Get Upbeat" organisation is presenting their first "BIGFOOT" walk from Armagh to Dungannon!

Saturday 12th September 2010

This is a new walk between Armagh and Dungannon on
the 12th September 2010.

While it's primarily focused on getting casual walkers involved and presenting them with perhaps their first challenge that will inspire them to go further, at around 30kms this will still be very much a challenging walk. It's all on quiet back roads and  finishes on the Castle Hill in Dungannon.

So… what’s a Bigfoot?

Runners have their marathon, cyclists have their ‘sportives’. Walkers always seem to be an after thought, always second fiddle to the runners, tagged on to the end of a fun run. Walkers deserve the same level of event in terms of challenge, profile and organisation that runners & cyclists expect.

Bigfoot establishes a new standard for walking. It takes two iconic landmarks, between 15-20 miles apart and joins them with an iconic walking challenge. The very first Bigfoot challenge is between the historic towns of Armagh and Dungannon. We leave from the Mall, in the shadow of the Cathedral spires, and walk to the summit of the Castlehill in Dungannon, seat of the O’Neills, where you can trace the entire route back to Armagh. We go on the 12th September, 2010.

Bigfoot n. is a linear walking challenge of 15-20 miles, between 2 distinct landmarks.
