WAI General Meeting - Saturday 20th September 1.45pm - New Library Tallaght

Support the organization of our sport nationally!

The WAI reports back to the walking community on its activities to date and and proposes some further services.

Last year the WAI invited interested walkers to a meeting and got a roomful of people including representatives from several clubs. Recently the WAI met with a selection of Dublin hillwalking clubs to review progress to date and the way forward. Encouraged by this meeting we now invite all walkers to a general meeting.

The WAI has made progress in a number of areas since it was first established such as the Modern Navigation courses (next course October 4th); the publicity site for Challenge Walks; the website; etc.
The WAI now wants to report back to the walking community on what has been achieved so far and propose some further services -

  • Website
  • Challenge walks
  • Modern navigation
  • Winter Evening Meets
  • Holidays
  • Photographic Group
  • National Parks
  • Environment and Access

We present the draft constitution of the WAI for your approval - published on our web.

We invite you to a talk on walking in Sweden – "Swedish Delights!" – by Donal O’Brollachain

All walkers are welcome!

Getting there is easy!
The magnificent new Tallaght Library is located behind the Square Shopping Centre opposite the Civic Theatre, right beside the last stop of the Luas, bus stops and the carpark.

general & access

First allow me to say how I enjoyed saturdays AGM and the opportunity to meet with walkers from the south.I will be reporting back to my organisation The Northern Walking Partnership shortly and see no reason why we might not build a relationship of mutual benefit over the coming period- months yearswhatever.
I am interested in developing a programme of border walks with groups from north and south to run next april-october.So any interested groups/individuals would like to get involved please dont hesitate to contact me.Yr input most welcome.

I am interested in access issues though dont -as yet-have a firm grasp of how they play south of the border- and wonder if there would be any interest amongst WAImembers in organising a speaker meeting for early 2009 on the issues to clarify what role-if any-WAI might have to play.Just a suggestion particullary as I suspect these matters may already be in hand.
