An umbrella group for Irish hillwalkers.
Winter Meets
This group organises winter meets for walkers and hillwalkers from 2008. The initial season starting in late 2008 included a talk on organising holidays in Greece and Slovenia and was followed by a hillwalking themed Pub Quiz in Jan 2008. Further talks such as one on Munro bagging and another on a walk in Spain are planned.
The purpose of the meets is to allow people get together to develop walking and meet people from other clubs. Clubs in any given area, no matter how large and active, do not have have as many resources as all the people. These meets, like other activities of the WAI set out to provide services for a wider audience with larger resources where club resources aren't sufficient. We also acknowledge that a lot of walkers and hillwalkers aren't in a club - they too are welcome.
Anyone can propose a topic for a meet- it is open to individuals, clubs or national groups (like, say, geocachers). The WAI will help with insurance, publicity and where possible resources.

Hi All,
just signed up to this website. I notice that the Art walk is 'not on' this year. Is anybody walking it anyway?
If so, the 1st or the 8th?

If anyone IS walking it in 2010 they're keeping it quiet. If they were to declare that they were doing it they might find another fifty turning up and following them. If anyone needs it I can give them a detailed outline of the route and a date and time when I won't be doing it.
Hi Tom, Happy New Year to
