On 9th August last, there was a major problem with walkers parking at Glencree Reconciliation Centre, when approximately 40 cars parked there without permission. The people were asked to move by the staff at the centre, however, they declined to move and also many refused to give their names. A note was also left on one car requesting that they call the Centre Manager which was ignored.
Burren Walking Festival
27th - 29th September 2013
Over the last 12 months, the Walker's Association of Ireland has increased activity compared with the previous year. Slowly but surely it is becoming known as a strong resource in many areas as outlined below.
The Lakedistrict hillwalking club were very pleased with the high turnout for their 2009 Joyce Country Challenge.
Over the three years this of this event, numbers have grown with each year. This year over 150 people took part in the 3 arranged walks. The Challenge continues to attract the very fit and dedicated walker, and again this year local man David Joyce was first home in a time of 3 hours and 50 minutes.
